Deaf actress paid tribute to the late William Hurt.
On the Critic’s Choice Awards red carpet, she called him “a really great actor.”
She said, “he taught me a great deal as an actor and he was one-of-a-kind.”
The two met on the set of 1986’s “Children of a Lesser God.”
The two started dating. Matlin was 19 and he was 35.
In her 2009 memoir, she alleged that he abused and raped her.
After the memoir was published, he did not deny the allegations.
Hurt said in a statement at the time that he had “apologized.”
“I did and do apologize for any pain I caused,” he said at the time. “I wish Marlee and her family nothing but good.”
