Lionel “Leo” Messi’s life could be in jeopardy.

The soccer star’s family was threatened by two gunmen in his home country of Argentina.

According to reports, Messi’s wife, Antonella Roccuzzo’s, family-owned grocery store was targeted on Thursday, March 2nd.

The gunmen opened fire in the grocery store and left behind a chilling message for the World Cup winner.

The note read, "Messi, we’re waiting for you. (Mayor Pablo) Javkin is also a drug trafficker, so he won’t take care of you.”

Fortunately, no one in the grocery store, which is owned by Roccuzzo’s parents, was harmed during the attack.

Unfortunately, no suspects have been identified, but authorities have begun a “preliminary” investigation.

Mayor Javkin visited the crime scene on Thursday and reportedly put the blame on federal authorities.

Mayor Javkin told local media, "I doubt everyone, even those who are supposed to protect us.”
