British car racer Lewis Hamilton reluctantly turned down stole for “Top Gun: Maverick.”

He begged Tom Cruise to find him a role in the film because he loved it very much.

It was easy to tell Cruise about his desire to star in the film because they’d been friends for a while.

He rejected the role of a fighter pilot to focus on his racing season.

He described turning down the position over a phone call as the most upsetting call he had ever had.

He will be producing “Formula One,” the upcoming film which stars Brad Pitt.

The film is directed by renowned director Joseph Kosinski.

It will follow a veteran racing driver who comes out of retirement for one last chance at glory by mentoring a new F1 racer.

Cruise showed up for him at the British Grand Prix, where he came in third place.
