Fox News spoke to several legal experts not involved in the case.

On Thursday night, Jussie Smollett was sentenced to 150 days in prison.

He also had to pay fines and over $120,000 dollars in restitution to the City of Chicago.

He has also been ordered to serve 30 months’ probation.

Attorney Rachel Fiset said that 30 months of probation seemed “fairly harsh.”

However, she said that the loose restrictions on his probation were “fair.”

Attorney Ally F. Keegan said that she thought his sentencing was fair.

She noted that Judge James Linn could have ordered him to serve 3 years in prison.

She also noted that, although Smollett plans to appeal, he will also have to face the court of public opinion.
