Suspect Autograph Called Into Question Over ‘National Treasures’ Cards

LaMelo Ball

The Charlotte Hornets superstar is causing a stir.

LaMelo Ball's signature is at the center of a controversy regarding the release of Panini’s 20-21 National Treasures NBA Basketball card set.

The release is the first on-card pro autographs for many of the league’s hot rookies. A box of National Treasures cards retails from Panini for just over $3,700.

Authentic rookie autographed cards, many featuring jersey-worn patches from the stars, are regularly sold for astronomical prices. So it's safe to say that people want Melo's card.

After the first cards were revealed online, many pointed out there was something off with Melo’s autograph.

“It appears that Lamelo has changed his auto,” a fan said after seeing an “MB” signature instead of Melo’s usual script. “This is sad," another said, "this is not lamelo ball auto watch out everyone!”

Panini has not yet addressed the issue over LaMelo’s auto, but card experts are claiming that he changed his and will be keeping the "MB."
