On day three of the trial, Kim Potter’s former supervisor took the stand.

Mychal Johnson testified that Potter had a right to use deadly force.

He said that he could have been seriously injured or killed if Wright had taken off.

Johnson was halfway in the car when they were attempting to perform the arrest.

Johnson says that “by state statute,” Potter had a right to use a firearm in that situation.

He further testified that officers were concerned that Potter was going to harm herself.

At one point Potter says, “Just let me kill myself, Mike.”

He switched their guns to preserve evidence and took the magazine out of his.

He said that he did not go to the crash site where Wright was pronounced dead.
