Jussie Smollett had been ordered to spend 150 days in prison.

He was convicted of staging a 2019 hate crime against himself.

He was convicted of five counts of disorderly conducts for staging false police reports.

However, he spent less than a week in jail.

He was sentenced on March 10 and released on March 16.

His legal team argued that Smollett had never been convicted of a violent crime.

They also argued that it is likely that Smollett’s sentence would have been served before his appeal could be heard.

Smollett was freed after posting a $150,000 personal recognizance bond.

His appeal is still pending.
