The recent string of mass shootings is raising questions about how to address gun control.

Many on the left are calling for an outright ban on assault weapons.

Those on the right are calling for stronger police presence in schools.

One conservative on Fox News even called for ballistic blankets to cover windows in classrooms.

Oliver slammed the measure, saying it’s “not a strategy for stopping deaths during a school shooting.”

“It’s barely a solution for ‘there’s a bird in the house,’” he countered.

Oliver also pointed to a 2019 study that showed that police presence did not lessen the severity of shootings in 179 separate incidents.

In addition, school police had arrested a total of 54,321 students in only one calendar year.

Most of these students are people of color or disabled, including one autistic teenager who carved his name in a sidewalk.
