John Leguizamo recently called out “Alina Of Cuba,” casting James Franco as Fidel Castro.

Franco will star beside Mía Maestro, who plays Natalia Revuelta in the film.

After a four-year hiatus due to several sexual assault allegations, Franco is returning to acting.

“The View” host Ana Navarro commented in support of Leguizamo and plans to boycott the film.

Other fans commented in support and criticized the crew for casting him after his sexual assault scandal.

The film’s creative producer John Martinez O’Felan revealed that it was hard to convince Franco to play the role.

Franco was picked for the role because he had a close physical resemblance to Fidel Castro.

The biopic is based on the real-life exile of Fidel Castro’s daughter Alina Fernandez.

The screenplay was written by screenwriters Jose Rivera and Nilo Cruz.
