Colin Trevorrow was originally hired on to direct Episode IX.

However, he left Lucasfilm after creative differences with Pres. Kathleen Kennedy.

J.J. Abrams was hired back to finish up the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

He created a brand new script that became 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.”

In 2020, Trevorrow’s “Duel of the Fates” draft leaked online.

Many fans preferred it to Abrams, including actor John Boyega.

On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Boyega said he’s never read the script.

“I can’t read that one because I’d be heartbroken,” he said.

He did say that he saw the concept art and loved the ideas in Trevorrow’s script.
