It’s fair to say that Sam Elliot didn’t like “The Power of the Dog.”

He called the movie a “piece of s---” in a recent interview.

He also criticized writer and director Jane Campion.

He asked what she knew about the American Midwest.

On Saturday night, Campion picked up a win for Theatrical Feature Film at the DGA Awards.

She addressed his comments while walking the red carpet.

She said he “really hit the trifecta of misogyny and xenophobia and homophobia.”

She also pointed out that he’s an actor, not a real cowboy, either.

Campion then joked that the only way to resolve this was with an old-school Western shootout.
