NBA star Ja Morant has been suspended for 25 games following his second Instagram Live gun incident in May.

This follows an earlier eight-game suspension for similar behavior at a Denver strip club.

The NBA delayed the announcement until the end of the 2023 NBA Finals.

Morant will also be excluded from public league or team activities, including preseason games.

Morant has publicly apologized to the NBA, the Grizzlies, his teammates, sponsors, and fans, promising to "be better".

He plans to work on his mental health, decision-making, and training during his suspension.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver cited the potential for emulation by young people as a reason for the increased suspension.

Silver stressed that reckless and irresponsible behavior with guns will not be tolerated in the league.

The suspension also includes conditions for Morant’s return to the game.

Morant must formulate and fulfill a program addressing the reasons for his repeated destructive behavior before his return.
