It’s been exactly one year since the remains of missing 22-year-old Gabby Petito were discovered.

On September 19, 2021, law enforcement officials discovered human remains in Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming.

Just eight days prior, Gabby was reported missing by her mother, Nichole Schmidt.

Sadly, the remains discovered were those of the 22-year-old and were estimated to have been there for weeks.

“#GabbyPetito” began trending on Twitter with many commemorating Gabby’s life and legacy.

Her mother shared a heartbreaking post about getting the “worst phone call of our lives.”

“🌈 One year ago, we received the worst phone call of our lives. To honor #gabbypetito you can continue to share #missingpersons… brave stories of #DomesticViolence to #breakthesilence,” Nichole Schmidt tweeted.

Her father, Joseph, shared an adorable throwback photo of Gabby with her little brother in New York Jets football jerseys.

Thank you all for the love and support you have shown our families. Please take a moment and share a #missingpersons story to help bring them home safe. #EveryoneDeservesTheSameAttention I shared this picture because we are @nyjets fans and they won. #togetherwecan #GABBYPETITO
