Idris Elba explained why he no longer describes himself as a "black actor."

Elba claims that the tag comes with embargoes and puts him in a box.

The actor discussed racism and profiling in the industry and revealed that he's been a victim in the past.

Elba told Esquire magazine that although racism is real, it is only as powerful as people allow it.

Elba thinks if people focused more on each other's similarities instead of differences, things will change for the better.

The actor says there's nothing more to people's skin color than what it is, "just skin!" as he puts it.

He revealed that he decided to go into acting not to prove a point but because it's a "great profession."

Elba explained that he also has insecurities.

He pointed out that he still experiences imposter syndrome.
