On Monday, January 31, Hoda Kotb announced her split from ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman on the "TODAY" show.

Kotb said she and Schiffman decided to break up, following prayers and meaningful conversations over the holidays.

The mother-of-two believes they are better as friends and parents to Haley and Hope's two children.

Kotb explained that nothing terrible happened, but some relationships are meant for a season.

Following Schiffman's marriage proposal in 2019, Dolly Parton advised Kotb on how to enjoy married life.

Parton, who has been married to Carl Dean for over 50 years, okayed sleeping in separate rooms.

The multi-award-winner noted that laughing through tough times with one's spouse was most important.

On January 6, "TODAY" co-host Craig Melvin announced that Kotb contracted COVID-19 despite receiving the booster vaccine.

The 57-year-old assured fans via Twitter that she felt good and was excited to resume work.
