Hilary Duff has high hopes for “How I Met Your Father.”

The show is a spin-off of the popular comedy “How I Met Your Mother.”

The CBS sitcom ran for nine seasons on CBS.

However, the series was criticized for its lack of diversity.

Duff praised the diverse case and inclusive storylines of the new series.

She said that the character of Ellen “isn’t stressed about being gay.”

“She is gay,” Duff said of Tien Tran’s character. “She is who she is.”

Instead of her sexuality, “her trauma is that she’s getting divorced,” Duff explained.

New episodes of “How I Met Your Father” are available to stream on Hulu.
