Harry Shum. Jr recently joined the cast for season 19 of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.”

The actor will play Daniel “Blue” Kwan, a sharp-witted, impatient, brilliant first-year resident.

Shum’s character will join other first-year surgical residents at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

Shum previously appeared in “Crazy Rich Asians” and is expected to reprise his role in the sequel.

He gained critical acclaim for his role as Mike Chang on “Glee.”

Shum will star opposite new cast members like Adelaide Kane, Alexis Floyd, Niko Terho, and Midori Francis.

In the previous season, the lead character Meredith Grey, played by Ellen Pompeo, elected to stay with Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle and not move to Minnesota.

Pompeo, alongside Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr., will return in their main cast role for the upcoming season.

ABC are yet to confirm if season 19 will be the final season of the long-running show.
