2022 marks the 30th anniversary when the classic Disney animation movie, "Beauty and the Beast" was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

And so, Disney is diversifying, which is why for the first time, Belle, from the classic "Beauty and the Beast" will be played by an African-Filipino, H.E.R.

She will be essaying Belle in the ABC upcoming animated and live-action blended special, "Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration.”

H.E.R. is over the moon, saying, "I can’t believe I get to be a part of the 'Beauty and the Beast' legacy.”

She continued to say, “the world will see a Black and Filipino Belle!”

H.E.R also stated her excitement about working with “two wonderful directors”, Hamish Hamilton and Jon M. Chu.

The feeling was reciprocated by Chu and given that H.E.R. is both a Grammy and an Academy Award winner, she’d make one very talented Belle.

Social media seems excited for her, but at the same time, there was a little racism as well, with people questioning what’s wrong with a “white” Belle.

That said; most fans loved the idea, as they commented how they could not wait for H.E.R. to be Belle.
