In early March, the Internet was swirling with rumors that Pete Davidson was going into space.

On March 14, Blue Origin revealed that the rumors were true.

The “SNL” comedian was planned on joining a select crew for a space trip.

However, they had to reschedule the launch date and Davidson backed out.

It’s not clear why Pete stepped down but some suspect it has to do with his busy filming schedule.

On Monday, Blue Origin revealed they will replace him with one of their own employees.

Gary Lai has spent 18 years developing, testing, and flying the ship.

Many fans called it an aerospace engineer’s dream come true.

The New Shepard Chief Architect will take the trip on March 29.
