Gabby Petito’s family has a million reasons, actually several million, to celebrate.

While their daughter is no longer living, Nichole Schmidt and Joseph Petito are making sure to get justice for Gabby.

A Sarasota Florida County judge ruled on November 17, in favor of Gabby’s family in a wrongful death lawsuit against Brian Laundrie’s estate.

Gabby’s mother was awarded $3 million as the administrator of Petito’s estate.

The lawsuit was originally filed in May and sought damages of at least $30,000.

It states that Brian intentionally killed Gabby, and also demands a trial by jury and judgement for compensatory damages.

“The Petito family lost their daughter, and they were also denied the opportunity to confront her killer,” Patrick Reilly, attorney for Petito’s parents, said in a statement.

“Brian did not have $3 million; it’s an arbitrary number,” Reilly stated.

Whatever monies they do receive will help Gabby’s family in their endeavors with the Gabby Petito Foundation.
