On Sunday, January 9, Woodstock co-founder Michael Lang passed away.

He was only 77 years old.

Lang passed away at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

According to his family, Lang died from a rare form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Before Woodstock, Lang organized the Miami Pop Festival in 1968.

He later planned Woodstock with Artie Kornfeld,  Joel Rosenman, and John P. Roberts.

The iconic festival was held in Bethel, New York, from August 15-18th in 1969.

More than 400,000 people attended the festival.

It was headlined by the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, and many more.
