On Thursday, Elon Musk penned an open letter to Twitter advertisers.

He detailed his “motivation” for acquiring the social media platform.

“The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square,” he wrote.

He said he wants “a wide range of beliefs” to be “debated in a healthy manner.”

He said he didn’t buy Twitter “to make more money.”

“I did it to try to help humanity, who I love,” Musk wrote.

He said that he does plan to keep ads on Twitter, despite previous comments.

Musk wrote, “Low relevancy ads are spam, but highly relevant ads are actually content!”

Musk has until October 28 at 5 PM to close the $44 billion dollar deal.
