On Why She Doesn’t Expose Daughters On Social Media: ‘I’m Like A F***ing Doberman About Them’
Drew has been in the spotlight since she was a kid, and while it made her career, she didn’t want her kids, Olive, 9, and Frankie, 7, to go through the same path as she did.
She appeared on the 'Armchair Expert' podcast and opened up why fans will never see her kids on Instagram.
“I want them to be kids. And I don’t put my kids on social media, I’m like a f***ing Doberman about them,” Barrymore said.
She noted her kids “watch TikTok” and “love social media,” but they know that they would never be on the sites, nor will they ever appear on their mom’s daytime talk show.
“They get in a bad mood when they realize they won’t be put on camera, but they know good godd*mn well why, because I’m like, ‘I want you to be kids!'” she explained.
Barrymore also said she learned about parenting while on set. She was only six when she got cast in the 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,' and she said Steven Spielberg was "very fatherly" to her.
“[Spielberg] single-handedly changed my life. He was also someone who I didn’t realize until I was older was also very fatherly,” Barrymore recalled. “He calls me his first kid.”
