Lisala Folau is a 57-year-old retired and disabled carpenter.

He said that he swam for 27 HOURS to reach safety.

He was washed away from his island of Atata.

He swam to the island of Tongatapu, which is 8 miles away.

He told his story to Tongan radio station Broadcom FM.
