Queen Elizabeth II will not attend a royal engagement she had planned for Tuesday, May 10.

The Queen has been suffering from health issues for a good portion of 2022.

Buckingham Palace released a statement about Her Royal Highness’ health on Monday, May 9th.

It read: “Her Royal Highness continues to experience episodic mobility problems.”

The statement continued, in “consultation with her doctors,” the Queen has “reluctantly decided that she will not attend the State Opening of Parliament tomorrow.”

Her son, Prince Charles, will take over her duties.

“At Her Majesty’s request, and with the agreement of the relevant authorities, The Prince of Wales will read The Queen’s speech on Her Majesty’s behalf,” the statement continued.

Prince William will also be in attendance at Tuesday’s engagement.

Earlier this year, the Queen contracted COVID-19. Mobility issues in the elderly can be a side effect of the Coronavirus.
