Denzel Washington is speaking out about Will Smith’s Oscars slap.
Both Washington and Tyler Perry went over to talk to Smith after the incident.
Pastor T.D. Jokes joked that Washington “stepped in the middle of World War III.”
Washington said, “when the devil comes at you, maybe it’s because you’re trying to do something right.”
He added, “for whatever reason, the devil got ahold of that circumstance that night.”
He declined to reveal what he and Perry said to Smith that night, although he said they prayed together.
“There but for the grace of God, go any of us. Who are we to condemn?” Washington asked.
“I don’t know all the ins and outs of the situation,” he admitted.
He added, “I know the only solution was prayer.”
