Award winner Cynthia Erivo was cast to act as Elphaba in the Broadway musical “Wicked.”

“The Color Purple” was Erivo’s only Broadway musical.

She went on to star in movies like “Widows,” “Harriet,” “Genius: Aretha,” and several others.

Erivo sang “I Couldn’t Be Happier” by Glinda, while Grande sang “The Wizard and I” by Elphaba from the “Wicked” musical.

“I Could be Happier” was a song about a costly choice Glinda was about to make.

Elphaba is one of the hardest roles to master on Broadway because of how challenging her songs are.

Idina Menzel was the original Elphaba, and she congratulated the girls on bagging the roles.

Erivo and Grande took to Instagram to announce the casting.

They both sent each other floral arrangements with cards and posted screenshots of their video chat on Instagram.
