Alec Baldwin and “Rust” armorer
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed
are now formally charged in the death of Halyna Hutchins.
Two involuntary manslaughter charges were first announced on January 19.
On January 31, the charges were formally filed against each of them.
Both defendants are being charged “in the alternative.”
This means that a jury can only convict them of one of two counts.
One charge is punishable with 18 months behind bars and a $5,000 fine.
However, the second charge carries an additional firearm enhancement.
This can result in a mandatory five-year prison sentence if convicted.
Baldwin and the “Rust” armorer need to appear in court, either in person or virtually, in the next 15 days.
