Chanel Ayan is opening up about her traumatic experience to spread awareness.

"I’m a survivor,” Ayan told E! News.

Ayan revealed that she and her sister were circumcised against their will to keep them chaste.

They were taken to a stranger's house against their will and had their genitals "sewed" up.

In addition to her physical pain, she still suffers from emotional pain.

Ayan confessed that this was the first time that she was going to be talking about her pain in public.

However, she's decided to translate her pain into activism.

She has always been vocal about her upbringing, including her father's abuse.

Ayan will start her makeup line to raise proceeds to help stop this harmful practice.
