“The Handmaid’s Tale” kicked off with two episodes to begin season 5.

Creator and showrunner Bruce Miller sat down with THR to talk about the premiere.

He said that June is looking for a “break” after killing Commander Waterford at the end of season 4.

She had planned to go to jail, but she was released since it took place in disputed territory.

He said that June still has flickers of PTSD and is still “adjusting” to her trauma.

However, June will have a new adversary to face this season: Serena Joy.

“I don’t think she recognizes that Serena is going to try to survive,” Miller said of June.

He added, “She just didn’t think about what came next, and what came next is a really scary Serena.”

New episodes of “The Handmaid’s Tale” premiere each Wednesday on Hulu.
