Bradley Cooper got candid about his previous cocaine and alcohol addiction struggles.

Will Arnett also spoke about Cooper’s addiction and said he experienced a metamorphosis.

Cooper was featured on the Smartless podcast to speak about how he realized his addiction.

He had an incident while on drugs where he intentionally smashed his head and had to be hospitalized.

Cooper’s addiction started a while before he became famous and PEOPLE’s 2012 Sexiest Man Alive.

He said it wasn’t until he acted in The Hangover at 36 years old that his career took off.

Arnett called Cooper’s realization that he needed to take back control of his life a “metamorphosis.”

Cooper also credited Arnett for helping him step onto the “path of deciding to change my life.”

Cooper has never hidden his struggles with addiction, and he previously opened up about it to GQ magazine in 2013.
