Adam Levine suffers backlash after viral video shows his response to a fan mid-performance.

While performing "Sunday Morning," on October 23, a female jumped onstage to grab Levine's arm.

The star was seen shaking his body and mouthing "f---" as security carried the fan away.

In a YouTube recording, Levine fell his mic stand and moved to the opposite side of the stage.

On Tuesday, Levine defended his actions his Instagram Story, saying he loves, respects, and worships his fans.

The lead vocalist is saddened that people believe he thinks less of his fans.

Levine said he was startled, so he shook off the interaction and continued performing.

Levine has previously forgotten the lyrics of 2002 hit "She Will Be Loved" while on stage.

The 42-year-old laughed off the first-time mistake and sang the lyrics along with fans.
