Burt Reynolds Was ‘Moving Slow’ But Still Cracking Jokes Months Before Death

Close friends of Burt Reynolds knew the Hollywood legend’s health was in decline, but his death came as a complete shock to those that knew him best.

Vanilla Ice tells The Blast he’s devastated over the death of Reynolds, whom he considered a “good friend.”  Ice says he actually just did an event with the “Smokey and the Bandit” star back in April when the two appeared at the Palm Beach International Film Festival Student Showcase Awards.

The “Ice Ice Baby” rapper says Reynolds was “moving really slow,” however “his brain was as witty as it’s ever been.” We’re told the actor was cracking jokes and making everyone in the room smile.

As we reported, Reynolds died Thursday at the age of 82 after suffering from a cardiac arrest. His niece released a statement saying, “He has had health issues, however, this was totally unexpected.”

Vanilla Ice understandably says he’s feeling “super emotional” this week after first being quarantined on the plane coming in from Dubai, and then having his good friend pass away.
