Tyrese had his legal team rush to court and stop his ex-wife from taking their daughter to Israel over worry that recent events have made the area violent and unsafe.

Sources close to the case tell us Norma Gibson appeared in court Tuesday for an emergency hearing, and was seeking an order to let her take her daughter with Tyrese, Shayla, to Israel.

The "Fast and the Furious" star's ace attorney, Ali Fishbein, argued that their is no emergency reason for Norma to take their daughter out of the country. Fishbein also claimed Tyrese was worried over the safety of his daughter while in Israel, especially after the uptick in violence since the U.S. embassy was moved into Jerusalem.

We're told the star's attorney scored a victory and not only got the judge to shut down Norma's request, but made Norma agree to turn over Shayla's passport to ensure she wouldn't leave the country. The judge also chided Norma's legal team for putting so much time to prepare a "well-written seven page request with seventeen exhibits," but then filing it as an emergency petition.

Norma's sudden request also comes on the heels of Tyrese trying to modify custody away from his ex and move his daughter to Atlanta. Sources close to Tyrese believe his custody move was the main motivation for the sudden trip to the Holy Land.
