Susan Sarandon & Ben Stiller Take Over Charity After Paul Haggis Resigns

Susan Sarandon and Ben Stiller are the new Board Co-Chairs of a non-profit organization founded by Paul Haggis after he resigned in the midst of his sexual assault scandal.

The Artists for Peace and Justice tell The Blast they accepted Haggis’ resignation of Chair of the Board on January 4, and “We thank him for his vision and years of dedication to the cause.”  They also said, “May we all continue to work peacefully for a more just future for all.”

In a joint statement, Sarandon and Stiller say “we are honored to be joint Co-Chairs of the Board of Directors for APJ to help steward the mission of the organization into the future.”

Stiller was actually already on the Board of Directors, so now he gets a fancier title.

As we previously reported, APJ scrubbed mentions and images of Haggis from their website, including a letter he wrote describing the mission statement of the charity.

Haggis is currently in a legal war with a woman who accused him of sexual assault, he has denied the allegations.
