Ex-NFL star Derrick Ward's wife just got a restraining order against her husband after he allegedly threatened to kill her, and she also claims he's abusing painkillers.

According to documents filed in Los Angeles County court, and obtained by The Blast, Naomi Lee Allen-Ward says on Tuesday she was involved in a heated argument with the former star running-back, and allegedly culminated with him erupting and screaming, "I hate you! I'll kill you ... I don't care if I go to jail."

Naomi says she dropped her child off at school and then immediately went to the police station. She says cops took a report and then advised her to file a restraining order against Derrick. She went straight to court and filed the documents, which were granted by the judge.

Naomi also says Wednesday was not the first time Derrick has been abusive towards her. She says in October of last year during an argument he strangled her.

Naomi claims Derrick's outburst are related to an alleged drug addiction, stating "he has explosive fits of anger, and he is still battling drug addiction to painkillers."

The outbursts are so bad, Naomi says Derrick punches walls and breaks things around the house, and regularly fights in front of the family's children.

Derrick must stay 100-yards away from her and the couple's two minor sons. He also must temporarily vacate the family house.

Derrick was drafted by the New York Jets in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL Draft and played for the New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans.

He won a Super Bowl ring with the Giants in 2008.
