Suge Knight was sentenced on Thursday morning to 28 years in prison for the 2015 hit-and-run death of a man on the set of the movie "Straight Outta Compton."

Knight pleaded no contest last month just days before his trial was set to begin. He faced one count of murder and one count of attempted murder after he ran over two men with his truck during a confrontation. Terry Carter later died from his injuries.

Two other criminal cases against Knight were dismissed at sentencing.

During the hearing, Carter's family read statements to the court, slamming Knight for killing their father/husband/brother. At one point, Carter's daughter referred to Suge Knight as "a piece of s**t."

Surveillance video from the incident showed two men confront Knight in his car when he backed up his vehicle, striking one of the men. He then accelerated forward, hitting the man again but then running over Carter.

Knight previously argued that one of the men had a gun and, in a jailhouse interview with The Blast, the rap mogul claimed they were sent by Dr. Dre to kill him.
