‘Stranger Things’ Duffer Bros Apologize for Alleged On Set Abuse

The two brothers responsible for writing and directing “Stranger Things” are apologizing after being accused of verbally abusing women on set, and they are blaming the “high stress nature” of production.

Matt and Ross Duffer told E! that, “We are deeply upset to learn that someone felt uncomfortable on our set,” adding, “Due to the high-stress nature of production, tempers occasionally get frayed, and for that, we apologize.”

The accusations were made by a former crew member of the Netflix hit show who claimed they quit after the Duffer brothers sought out and verbally abused women during production.

Along with the apology, the Duffers also said, “We think it is important not to mischaracterize our set, where we believe strongly in treating everyone fairly regardless of gender, orientation, race, religion, or anything else. We remain totally committed to providing a safe and collaborative working environment for everyone on our productions.”

Netflix said they had investigated the claims last week after they were made, and “found no wrongdoing.”
