Former Houston Rockets point guard star Steve Francis allegedly flew into a rage and stomped a man's cell phone into smithereens after the guy tried to take photos of the damage sustained from a car accident.
According to the Harris County, TX criminal complaint, a man named Alfred Cerino was rear-ended by Francis while driving on December 4, and Francis flagged Cerino down to follow him off the freeway.
The documents say Francis ended up driving to his home with Cerino in tow, and when they arrived Cerino attempted to take photos of Francis' car while attempting to exchange insurance information.
Cerino told cops that Francis became agitated and struck his hand, causing his cellphone to fall to the ground. He said the ex-NBA star then stomped on his phone until it was "badly damaged."
The documents say Cerino called the cops, and Francis had gone inside his home and was on his balcony when the officer arrived, and refused to come out and talk. However, the officer ID'd him from previous run-ins, so they were able to positively name him in the report once Cerino wished to pursue charges.
The cost of the phone was only $140, so Francis was just charged with misdemeanor mischief, and he was not arrested over the incident.
A court date has not yet been set. We reached out to Francis for comment.
