Selena Gomez's Mom Told Her Not to Work With Woody Allen: 'It Falls on Deaf Ears'

By TheBlast Staff

Selena Gomez's mother told her not to appear in Woody Allen's new film amid longstanding questions and criticism regarding the director's history of alleged sexual abuse.

Mandy Teefey responded to fans who were questioning Selena's decision to work with Allen, and said "No one can make Selena do anything she doesn't want to. I had a long talk talk with her about not working with him and it didn't click."

She then said, "No matter how hard you try to advise. It falls on deaf ears."

Gomez has been trying to avoid answering questions about working with Allen. When Billboard asked her about it last year, she said:

"I’m not sure how to answer -- not because I’m trying to back away from it. [The Harvey Weinstein allegations] actually happened right after I had started [on the movie]. They popped up in the midst of it. And that’s something, yes, I had to face and discuss."

However, Gomez's co-star in the flick, Timothée Chalamet, has now pledged to donate his entire salary, and "learning that a good role isn't the only criteria for accepting a job."

Gomez has not yet responded to the comments by her mother.
