Selena Gomez is bringing in the big bucks after revealing her struggles with Lupus and subsequent kidney transplant, and according to one person, has done more in the last 24 hours to advance awareness for the disease than what's been done in the past 25 years.
Ken Farber, CEO of Lupus Research Alliance tells us he's already thanked Gomez this morning for the star's openness about the challenges she's had with Lupus. We're told word already got back to him that she is "thankful and delighted."
Farber says since the story broke, the organization's phones have been "ringing off the hook" for donations, and their web traffic is through the roof. They are crediting the huge push all to Selena, and tell us they have not seen an increased awareness to Lupus like this "in decades."
We're told Gomez has personally helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for research, especially by donating a portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold on her last tour.
As The Blast previously reported, Gomez is also being hailed as a hero to others who are in need of organ transplants.
