11/21/18 7:10 AM PT -- Sarah Michelle Gellar has since apologized for her post, saying, "It's come to my attention that some people think I was 'fat shaming' with this post. That could not be further from my intentions."
“I love Thanksgiving and unfortunately my eyes are often bigger than my stomach, and I tend to eat so much I make myself sick," she continued. "This was a joking reminder to myself not to do that.”
"I'm terribly sorry that people were offended by my attempt at humor. Anyone that knows me, knows I would never intentionally "shame" any one on any basis. I am a champion of all people."
Sarah Michelle Gellar is getting slammed by fans after posting several sexy shots as a reminder not to overeat over the Thanksgiving weekend.
In the pics, the "Buffy" star is wearing a black bra and panty set with thigh highs.
"I’m just going to pin these up all over my house as a reminder not to overeat on Thursday #thanksgivingprep," she wrote.
Needless to say, fans have mixed feelings regarding Gellar's message, with some even calling her post a trigger.
"Please consider rewording this, there's nothing wrong with eating or being something other than skinny. And this post is a great way to trigger people's eating disorders," one IG follower said.
"Your caption is problematic and I suggest you do some research on eating disorders, the mental health issues that go along with them, and how diet culture is harmful to women," another user wrote and added, "Girls look up to you, and you should be mindful of the message you're sending."
But some fans had Gellar's back.
"As a former anorexic and bulimic, I don't see any harm or malice in the post. She looks amazing and shouldn't be shamed for looking that way," a follower said.
As of this post, Gellar has yet to clarify her comments.
