McGowan posted a menacing video wishing the disgraced film producer a Happy Birthday on Twitter and it is exactly how you’d expect it to be.
“Happy birthday Harvey Weinstein,” McGowan whispers into the camera. “I told you we’d be coming.”
In the video, the actress and advocate speaks directly to the former Hollywood bigwig and says, “I told you 20 years ago if I heard of you doing this to another girl or woman we would come for you. I would come for you.”
And come for him she has. McGowan has publically accused Weinstein of rape, detailed her experience in her memoir “Brave,” and opened about her alleged assault in her docu-series “Citizen Rose.” Weinstein denies all allegations of misconduct.
“Happy f**king birthday … from all of us,” the activist ends the video. “We win.”
In some ways, McGowan’s final sentiment has a ring of truth. “The monster” as McGowan refers to him, doesn’t have a whole lot to celebrate this year. Weinstein was booted from the successful production company that bears his name, he’s been sued a handful of times since the scandal broke, he’s under criminal investigation and just yesterday The Weinstein Company filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.
