Roger Ailes was paid a million dollars for an autobiography that he will never deliver -- obviously -- and now the book company wants their hefty advance returned.

HarperCollins filed a claim against Ailes' estate to get back $1,082,000 on a book deal they made with the deceased news exec in 2013.

Ailes had been reportedly working on his autobiography for several years, and planned on wrapping it up after he was driven out of Fox News in 2016. There was never an expected date of release.

Elizabeth Ailes has been handling her husband's estate following the 77-year-old's death, and she has already objected to the claim by HarperCollins.

Ailes died in March from complications of a subdural hematoma which he sustained after a fall at his Florida home.
