Robert Durst has been ordered to stand trial for the 2000 murder of Susan Berman.
An arraignment has been scheduled in Los Angeles for November 8.
Durst is accused of killing Berman on Christmas Eve. The theory prosecutors have is that Durst did it because Berman was going to be questioned by police in New York over the disappearance of Durst's first wife, Kathleen "Kathie" Durst. She was never found.
He was arrested in New Orleans in 2015 by FBI agents. If convicted, Durst faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The 75-year-old real estate tycoon achieved notoriety in recent years after Durst was the subject of the HBO series, "The Jinx."
