To say that Rob Riggle‘s divorce
is headed for a tough legal battle would be an understatement. New court documents obtained by TMZ show that the actor and comedian is making some very serious claims about his estranged wife of 21 years.
Riggle mentioned that he felt he was being watched. Apparently, that “feeling” was more true than he could have ever imagined. His legal team alleges that his wife had set up cameras to spy on him around the house. These spying claims are just the tip of the iceberg!
Riggle didn’t start feeling “watched” out of the blue. He mentions that he became suspicious when his wife started confronting him about things he had said in private conversations. Made of these conversations were between him and his assistant turned girlfriend and happened in his home office space.
He and his girlfriend then decided to try and feed fake information. Sure enough, his wife seemed to pick up on these conversations as well. How exactly was she getting this information? It seems she had a few ways to spy on Riggle.
Riggle’s legal team claims that they had his home office space inspected for any type of foreign device. What they found was a camera and audio recording device that was put inside of a smoke detector! The defense team claims that they have access to the memory card of the device that contains over 10,000 videos of different events that took place in the room.
Riggle is also accusing his wife of hacking his Apple computer. He became suspicious of the hack after he was also confronted by her about private email conversations!
The claims don’t stop with all of the cold war spying tactics. Riggle also claims that his wife took 28k in cash. Which was money that he had stored in the same office space that was bugged.
His team also seems to think that a video that they found on the same spying device proves this claim! In the memory card that they found in the recording device, there seems to be a video of Riggle’s wife counting the cash she took from him.
If Riggle is able to prove all of these claims before the court it may be unlikely that he ends up having a costly divorce. Currently, Riggle was granted a restraining order against his wife that his defense team has filled for.
New information on the case will likely come down in July when a new hearing is set to take place. The court has also potentially granted Riggle’s plea to have a forensics team look into all of the spying claims that his legal team has made!
