Redmond O'Neal was charged with two counts of possessing a controlled substance — for heroin and methamphetamine — following his arrest on Tuesday for allegedly robbing a convenience store.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, O'Neal was hit with six counts related to his arrest: one count each of second-degree robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a smoking device, possession of an injection/ingestion device and two counts of possessing a controlled substance.
According to the felony complaint, the drugs in question were heroin and methamphetamine.
The D.A. says the felony complaint includes a special allegation that "the defendant personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a knife, during the commission of the robbery."
O'Neal is scheduled to be arraigned later today and prosecutors are seeking a bail of $125,000.
As The Blast first reported, O'Neal — the troubled son of Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal — was arrested Tuesday in Santa Monica.
The LAPD tells The Blast they received a call at 2:30 AM on Tuesday from a clerk reporting a robbery at a convenience store. The clerk told police a man entered the store armed with a knife and demanded the clerk hand over the money in the register.
According to the clerk, he obliged and the suspect fled the store.
A short time later, the LAPD says Redmond was stopped by officers and found to be in possession of a knife, which matched the description the clerk gave of the weapon used in the crime.
Police say the clerk was able to identify Redmond O'Neal, who was booked a short time later.
