Ray J’s ex-business partner is demanding a judge step down from presiding over his lawsuit filed against the singer due to his belief the judge is “fascinated” with Ray.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Jean Paul is requesting Judge Federico A. Moreno recuse himself from the case due to his "fascination with Defendant Ray J and his music."
He accuses the judge of making rulings in favor of Ray J that don’t follow the law.
As The Blast first reported, Judge Federico A. Moreno quoted Ray J's "One Wish" as part of the lawsuit where Jean Paul sued Ray J over their planned business, Scoot-E-Bike electric scooter. He accused the singer of taking the idea and launching his own separate scooter company. The man sued seeking $30 million in damages.
U.S. District Court
The judge granted Ray J’s recent motion to dismiss certain claims in the case but in his order, the judge quoted Ray J’s 2005 ballad "One Wish."
Judge Moreno said, “If Plaintiffs had one wish, Counts I, IV, V and VII would never end, they would just begin. But wait a minute, Plaintiffs need to let it go, because a photo is not a formal invite to be bound by terms of a contract, much less satisfy a statue that requires a writing.”
The judge’s conclusion is a direct lift of Ray J’s lyric: “If I had one wish, we would be best friends, love would never end, it would just begin.”
Jean Paul wants a judge to be appointed that has no relationship or connection to the defendants or his attorney. The judge has yet to rule.
Fun Fact: Judge Moreno was once named as a possible pick for the Supreme Court by President Donald Trump.
