Ray J just got a big break, because not only did the judge in his case rule in his favor, but Ray J also found out the guy’s a huge fan.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, U.S. District Judge Federico A. Moreno quoted Ray J’s 2005 ballad, “One Wish.”
The case was over a guy who claimed he had entered into an official partnership with the singer over the Scoot-E-Bike electric scooter and said he got screwed when Ray J took the idea and went to a different company. He had sued for $30 million and claimed that even though there was no contract, a photo allegedly proved that Ray J had entered into an agreement.
However, Judge Moreno said, “If Plaintiffs had one wish, Counts I, IV, V and VII would never end, they would just begin. But wait a minute, Plaintiffs need to let it go, because a photo is not a formal invite to be bound by terms of a contract, much less satisfy a statue that requires a writing.”
The Judge’s conclusion is a direct lift of Ray J’s lyric, “If I had one wish, we would be best friends, love would never end, it would just begin.”
Several claims were dismissed, but Judge Moreno left the door open for plaintiffs to re-file with an amended complaint … which also gives him a chance at a Conclusion remix.
Fun Fact: Judge Moreno was once named as a possible pick for the Supreme Court by President Donald Trump.
