R. Kelly will no longer be working with Sony Music and the decision was either theirs or mutual, depending on which report you believe.
In reporting the news, Billboard said the two sides "have agreed to part ways" but Variety put it more bluntly: they dropped him.
According to Variety, there will be no big announcement about the move and R. Kelly will remain on the RCA website as that is where his music catalog will live.
Kelly's last release with the company was a Christmas album back in 2016.
Earlier this week, protestors gathered outside the Sony building in New York City, calling for a boycott of Kelly’s music, as well as criminal prosecution for his alleged acts of sexual assault.
